Equality Arlington joins Virginians for Marriage Equality Coalition and Announces Rally for Marriage Equality on 10/17
Equality Arlington, an LGBTQ+ advocacy nonprofit serving Arlington, Virginia, is excited to announce that it has joined the Virginians for Marriage Equality Coalition! Equality Arlington has joined with advocates across Virginia to support and endorse the marriage equality constitutional amendment which comes before voters this fall. We are excited to work with the coalition to ensure that same-sex and interracial marriages are protected in the Virginia Constitution: Vote Yes on Constitutional Amendment Question 2!
Equality Arlington and the NAACP Arlington Branch are sponsoring a Rally for Marriage Equality on Saturday, October 17 at 1 PM in Courthouse Plaza to get-out-the-vote and share stories from Arlington couples on the importance of the marriage equality amendment.
Kellen MacBeth, President of Equality Arlington, said “We’re excited to support efforts to enshrine marriage equality protections in the Virginia Constitution for same-sex and interracial couples. We must remove the stain on Virginia’s Constitution from the same-sex marriage ban enacted 20 years ago. It’s clear that the people of Virginia recognize that same-sex and interracial couples deserve the same rights as everyone else and that the government should not be placing restrictions on who we love—it’s time for our constitution to reflect that reality.”
